Day by day...
Arrival day – transfer from Nice Airport to the nearby accommodation. After getting bikes setup we’ll head for a short ride to wake up the legs and check everything is ready to start the following day.
Stage 1 – Into the Maritime Alps
The first stage will take you from the beautiful Mediterranean Sea and Riviera coastline into the Maritime Alps. Depending on your choice of route, one or two hors categorie mountains await. The challenging climbs reward you with stunning views and amazing descents that take you into the heart of the Maritime Alps.
Stage 2 – Maritime Alps to the Gorges
The first half of the stage reaches the highest point of the tour, tipping out at 1680m over the Col de Valberg. From here the route leaves the Maritime Alps and winds through the Gorge de Daluis en-route to the overnight stop at Castellane.
Stage 3 – The Gorges
A picturesque route running into the heart of the Verdon Gorge. The stage is shorter with less climbing than the previous two days, allowing plenty of time to soak up the surroundings and take plenty of photos!
Stage 4 – Grasse
The first half of the stage will take you through the south-east side of the gorge to reach the quiet roads of the Parc Alps. Three climbs punctuate the afternoon and you’ll discover some roads less travelled en-route to the overnight stop in France’s perfume capital; Grasse.
Stage 5 – Back to the Med.
The roads of the final stage have been used in Paris-Nice and the Tour de France many times over the last 100 years and provide fantastic views over the Mediterranean as you descend towards the coast and on to Nice. Depending on the tour length you will either finish in Nice or continue on to Italy to complete the trip.
